Over the past 20 years, I have been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases, including celiac, Crohn’s and Hashimoto’s. I’ve had multiple surgeries and have been to over 40 doctors. Frequently Asked Questions
What does the training include and how much of a time commitment is it?
The training includes over 60 hours of video education, 20 hours of real case study presentations and over 200 pages of detailed done-for-you protocols and educational training content. You have one year from your start date to complete the Gut Thrive Practitioner training program. You can take the program at your own pace.
Are there any other costs involved? Will extra coaching be required?
Those are the only costs involved. To be clear, your 1-1 mentor coaching will come (1) via email when you submit difficult tickets; (2) on the live Q&As; (3) when Christa, Dr. Jack, and/or Kate review the 3 case studies you submit during the year; and (4) when you present your live case studies to Dr. Jack or Kate with 3 other peers watching during the year. Regarding the business coaching aspect, there is no 1-1 involvement. At your own pace, you will go through each module where you will learn how to do a webinar, how to price the program, how to speak about the work, what to do in your sessions from intake to completion, how to handle social media without losing your mind and have done-for-you email flows to send your clients.
Are there prerequisites for participating in the training?
Yes. You must have a professional health certification or license (e.g. physician, naturopath, dietician, nutritionist, acupuncturist, health coach, etc.) and at least 1 year of private practice experience working 1-1 with clients. If you are a health coach only, we highly recommend that you complete a foundational gut health course, such as IIN’s Advanced Gut Health Course, if you have not already done so. The Gut Thrive practitioner training is an advanced gut health training, and we expect our participants to already have a foundational understanding of the physiological and biochemical processes involved in gut health.
What does the $499/year cover after the first year and after graduation?
Once you have proved your competence in the program with your completed and approved case studies, you will get a Gut Thrive Practitioner Certification. Your initial purchase includes one year of being hosted on our website as a Gut Thrive Practitioner. After that, the annual cost is $499/year for continued access to our portal, to to be listed on our website, receive annual new research papers from Dr. Jack Tips, and to participate in the quarterly training webinars which will keep your certification up to date. We will also email our certified practitioner’s details to our email list and will post a link to this on our social media accounts. If customers write in to us wanting to work privately, and are looking for a practitioner in your area, we will refer them to you.
Can international practitioners participate in the training?
Absolutely! We have had international practitioners from many different countries participate in the program. To complete your certification, you must take 3 case studies through the program within 1 year. If you have never done the Gut Thrive program before, we require that you take yourself through the program as your first case study. This will give you a deeper understanding of our protocols and what your clients will experience when going through the program. If you will be taking yourself through the program, please reach out to us as soon as you enroll in the training so that you can take our Gut Thrive assessment and order your supplement kit as soon as possible. Given pandemic-related supply chain shortages and shipping delays, we do not know how long your country’s customs agency will take to process your order and we want to ensure that you have your supplements in time to start the program.
How does your program help us get more clients if we’ve had an established website for a long time?
Although referrals could potentially come from us, we will not “get clients for you” nor guarantee clients, but rather teach you how to speak about, administer, and market this work as well as put you on our website as a Certified Gut Thrive Practitioner if TWJ web visitors or customers are looking to work one-on-one in your area. In the business development portion of the program, Christa and her marketing experts will guide you and offer insight on how to get out and speak and write about this work so that prior clients and patients in need of gut and immune support sign up with you. We will also help you with a highly-converting recorded webinar explaining the program, developing high-level social media, and putting together email sequences for client acquisition.
Does the training include live sessions?
The program is no longer live; however, once you enroll, you will be given access to our practitioner portal where you will watch and read the materials in each module, implement what you learn with your case studies, and then participate in LIVE Q&As with members from the clinical team.In these live Q&As, we’ll answer your questions to help you refine and customize the protocol to whomever you’re working with and you will learn tremendously – not only from us but also from your peers. You will present each of your case studies as you work through the program. You will record and submit your personal case study and then parlay what your learn into your additional case studies. You will meet LIVE with Dr. Jack or Kate and a small group of your peers to present and review your case studies.
Are you saying that the traffic generated from your site alone and being on your practitioner list will bring me clients to grow my business in my first year? I get no clients from my website.
No, please read above. We cannot offer any guarantees of sending you clients or patients, only that we will list you on our platforms including our website, provide 1-2 social media posts about working privately with our certified practitioners, and send out an email to our email list for those who want to work privately versus doing a group online program (which we offer). Those potential clients or patients will either contact you on their own volition or not. You will have to proactively make alliances and get yourself out there in front of people talking about this work. Christa will guide you on how to do that.

If it costs one client around $2,795 US to work with me, wouldn't I just send them to do your online course instead - which is cheaper than seeing me?
This is for clients and patients who do not want to work in an online or group capacity, but rather prefer to meet with someone and have the accountability and customization that comes from having a 1-1 live relationship with a clinician, which we do not offer.
How do I secure my case studies and will they have to pay for your supplements upfront?
You are responsible for recruiting 3 case studies (these can be friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc.) and take them through the program within 1 year. If you have never done the Gut Thrive program before, we require that you take yourself through the program as your first case study and then recruit 2 additional case study volunteers.Your case studies must purchase the Gut Thrive supplements upfront through our public store (
Supplements | The Whole Journey). Supplements will be shipped to them.
Can my clients/patients use HSA or FSA accounts to pay for Gut Thrive supplements?
Your clients and patients may be able to use their Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs), Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to purchase their program supplements. Thanks to the recent federal CARES Act (P.L. 116-136), you can use these accounts to pay for nutritional supplements that your healthcare provider recommends to treat or prevent a specific health condition. (Supplements for general health purposes are not covered.) A note or prescription from their medical provider may be required to receive reimbursement. Please have them check with their HSA.
Will I have to pay for supplements on top of the certification program cost if I use myself as a case study, as you suggest?
Yes, if you are taking yourself though the program as one of your case studies, the supplements are an additional (discounted) cost and must be purchased through our public store. This will make you a much more effective and relatable practitioner when you explain each supplement to your clients and patients in the future.
Can I earn continuing education unit credits (CEUs) by completing the training?
Yes, depending on the requirements of the certifying/accrediting organization that you belong to. Once you have completed the training and been approved for certification, we provide you with a “proof of course completion letter” that includes an itemized listing of all training hours you completed. You can then submit the letter to your organization for CEU approval. (We have had practitioners successfully obtain CEU credits for the training.) We will be moving to full accreditation in 2023.
Do we have to buy specific supplements from your brands or can we use our own supplements when administering the Gut Thrive Program?
You must use the exact supplements that we use in our Gut Thrive program, otherwise the strategy and protocols cannot be properly implemented. Our strategy is the most cutting-edge and gentlest in the industry and we spent decades ensuring this with control and experiment groups.
What is the refund policy for GT5-P?
Due to this being a live program, we’re offering a 7-day money back guarantee from the October 18, 2022 program start date. Therefore, the deadline for refunds is October 25, 2022 at 11:59pm PST. NO exceptions.
Can we brand the program handouts and materials as our own or are they required to have the TWJ Gut Thrive in 5 name on them?
No. The program handouts must stay branded as Gut Thrive in 5 and are not allowed to be rebranded, as you are receiving a Gut Thrive Practitioner Certification. Thus, legally the brand must remain consistent.
Am I allowed to administer the Gut Thrive Program to clients located within and outside of my state?
You are responsible for understanding and abiding by the laws and regulations of your state in terms of what is legal within your scope of practice based on your professional license or certification.
